Department of Chemistry

The B.Sc. Programme, started in 2021, is designed to provide strong foundations in fundamental and advanced areas of chemistry to develop competent chemists. The programme emphasizes hands-on training, greener laboratory practices, project-based learning, and experiential activities such as internships and industrial visits. Effective teaching–learning methods and co-curricular support help students grow while fulfilling the vision and mission of the department and institution.

Vision:

The program aims to deliver strong chemistry education that prepares graduates for scientific and professional challenges, supports national development through research and innovation, and promotes societal well-being by applying chemical knowledge to real-world and sustainable solutions.

Mission:

    • ✔ To improve the learning skill sets of slow learners

      ✔ To train students and rural women for entrepreneurship.

      ✔ To develop students’ competency through curricular, co-curricular and extra – curricular activities under Chemistry Association.

Objectives:

✔ To develop a deep understanding of matter, its properties, and chemical principles

✔ To master problem-solving, analytical thinking, and scientific reasoning skills

✔ To conduct, analyze, and interpret chemical and physical experiments effectively

Chemistry Laboratory

Our Chemistry Laboratory is designed to meet academic and safety standards, offering hands-on practical training for undergraduate students. The laboratory is furnished with essential instruments, chemicals, and safety equipment to perform qualitative and quantitative experiments. It encourages experiential learning, accuracy in experimentation, and scientific inquiry, thereby strengthening students’ practical knowledge and research aptitude.

About:

The B.Sc. Programme was started in the year 2021. The curriculum has been designed to provide sound education in the fundamental and frontier areas of chemistry to produce quality chemists. A broader outlook of the programme includes greener laboratory practices, hands-on training, activity & project-based learning and beyond class-room activities such as summer schools, internships, industrial visits, etc.

The department adopts best Teaching-Learning practices, Co-curricular and Extra- Curricular activities through an efficient academic management system, that help students to grow and upscale, fulfilling the vision and mission of the department and of the institution.

Every year, our students and faculty members undertake various exchange programmes with reputed institutes in Tamil Nadu
